OC FOOD BANK
Did you know that 1 in 5 children in Orange County are hungry every day? In fact, 35% of those being fed by the Orange County Food Bank are children! At this Food Bank, we help pack food boxes, organize cans, and much more. These boxes of food are given out to those who do not have access to healthy food such as the vulnerable adult and children populations within the community. Through this opportunity, M.E.M.O. strives to assist the underprivileged populations as we work towards ending hunger.
At the Second Harvest Food Bank in Irvine, we help out at the Food Distribution Center. This is where volunteers work together to sort, package, and distribute enough food to feed 250,000 men, women, and children each month. M.E.M.O. hopes that, through volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank, we can better serve the local community and promote sustainability! Together, we are creating a future in combating hunger!
Interested in serving our future by uniting the community to end hunger? The Someone Cares Soup Kitchen, located in Costa Mesa, provides nutritious meals to those who are under-resourced such as the homeless, unemployed, as well as the mentally- and physically-challenged. The Soup Kitchen has served those in need for over 20 years and continues to do so because they strongly believe that no individual should go to bed hungry. With the same goal in mind, M.E.M.O. volunteers help to prepare and serve hot meals to those who visit the Soup Kitchen.
